November 2, 2005: The 2005 TaylorMade Father and Son World Invitational Ends in Dramatic Fashion

Doug and Jeff Marsh from Auburn, and Fort Wayne, Indiana won their third TaylorMade Father and Son World Invitational championship in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The Marsh’s nipped Tom and T.J. Duncan of Reno, Nevada on the first hole of sudden death at the Weiskopf Course at Vista Vallarta. The team total of 248 was 6 under par. The tournament format featured a combination of formats, with the final round combining better ball of partners on odd holes, and team aggregate on event holes.

The format proved exciting in the net division also. Jim and Jamie Pickens of Rockfield, Illinois won the overall net championship by the smallest possible margin – 0.1 stroke. This was made possible due to the scramble format which took 30% of the team handicap. Their total of 220.7 was just enough to edge Francisco and Francisco Braniff of Mexico City.

The tournament was played under blue skies, warm weather, and gentle breezes daily. Mr. Jim Flick once again joined us for the event, and the time Jamie Pickens spent with Mr. Flick prior to the first round generated spectacular results. He was one of many who benefited greatly from the experience.
